How To Reduce Lip Lines

Wrinkles are one of the first things we start obsessing about as we age. I remember noticing the first signs of a lip line when I was about 30 when the bright red lipstick I loved to wear back then would start to seep into it.

Why do lip lines develop?

People often associate lip lines with smoking and sun damage, but some people have more pronounced lip lines than others regardless of their age, whether they have ever smoked or spent too much time in the sun. I have certainly never smoked and have always done my best to cover up in the strong sunlight with my fair skin.

According to THE FACE CODE the mouth is all about nourishment. Lip lines can thus indicate that something is up with our digestion. It may be that your digestive system is compromised in some way and so you are not absorbing your nutrients effectively. It may be that you thus need to correct the pH levels in your blood.

Correspondingly, your mouth also relates to how you do relationships and also how you nourish yourself emotionally. Lip lines in this case are deemed to be a sign that you may have been wearing yourself out with too much giving and not enough receiving. When you haven’t been nourishing yourself emotionally and this goes on long enough, you can become tired, fed up and resentful. This in turn creates tension in the muscles around your mouth and the familiar furrows start to become etched there.

If you have any lip lines, ask yourself:

To what extent have I been neglecting my own self care?
To what extent have I been putting my own needs on the back-burner?
To what extent have I been over giving to others?
To what extent have I not been allowing support from others?
To what extent am I holding tension in the muscles that connect to my mouth?

What can I do about lip lines?

Nourish and moisturise the area around your mouth topically, treating and pampering yourself at the same time, with your favourite Karen Farley serums and moisturisers.

The Skin Plumping Face Serum is ideal for hydrating and plumping the skin cells to help reduce lines.

The Super Antioxidant Miracle Oil is rich in nourishing oils that you can massage into the lip lines to help regenerate the skin and improve its elasticity. You can also use this beautiful oil to massage the muscles around your mouth, lower cheeks and jaw to help reduce tension.

Become aware of any tension you carry around your mouth and relax your facial muscles.

Nurture Yourself. It is seriously time to put yourself at the top of your to do list. PAMPER yourself. Book in for a massage or manicure (and DON’T cancel!) or whatever spells treat for you. Say “NO” for a change. ASK for help, for example around the house, rather than begrudgingly doing it all yourself. Take ‘ME TIME’ everyday to put your feet up, read or whatever it is YOU like to do. And if anyone calls you SELFISH, simply smile to yourself, knowing you are on the RIGHT TRACK.

Nourish yourself with good food, chewing well and giving yourself time to enjoy it.

Take something to support your digestion e.g. Nat Phos, the acid neutraliser, a tissue salt that is indicated when lip lines are present to improve digestion; digestive enzymes; Swedish Bitters or Apple Cider Vinegar.
